I’m Kaitlin. I guess you could say that I’m a bit of a foodie. I can’t help it that exotic varieties of kale and beautiful CSA produce excite me.
^ I guess milkshakes excite me too.
I grew up in northern New Jersey, amidst some of the most delicious pizza (my family is well-versed in the art of pizza-tasting) and perfectly al dente pasta. My ventures in cooking began at an early age. I would wake up before my parents on Sunday mornings, sneak into the kitchen and attempt to make a cake or pancakes from scratch. I’m pretty sure those cakes always had lumps in them and tasted awful since I don’t recall ever using a recipe, but everyone smiled and reassured me that they were delicious. That’s family.
After spending four years eating terrible food in college (the thought of the college cafeteria makes me shudder), I was more than excited to graduate and move to New York City and have my very own kitchen with 1 square foot of counter space (welcome to New York). Most of the recipes that you find here will be healthy, produce-based, and easy. Simple food is best, and most of the time, we have better things to be doing (hello, happy hour) than slaving away in the kitchen.
While I do enjoy cooking, I also LOVE eating out, especially in this city. There is something both relaxing and exciting about getting some friends together and trying something new and decadent. As Julia Child once said “People who love to eat are always the best people.” There is no better way to spend a Friday night.
You should also know that I believe strongly in dessert every once in a while (read: almost daily). I can’t promise that my dessert recipes will be healthy. I’m also an iced coffee addict.
So here you will also find my NYC-based cooking, eating, drinking, and dining adventures.
